Xiyang Energy Co., Ltd | Initial Investment - 2007

Sentient acquired a 30% stake in SDIC Xiyang Energy Co., Ltd (“Xiyang Energy”) in July 2007.  Xiyang Energy is a joint venture with the State Development and Investment Corporation (“SDIC” & 60%) and Xiyang Feng Hui Co., Ltd. (10%).  Xiyang Energy will operate two anthracite coal mines with an initial capacity of 2Mt per annum and one 270MW coal-gangue fired power station in Shanxi Province, China

SDIC is the largest investment holding company in China owned by the Central Government with an asset base of over US$15bn.  It operates in hydro and coal-fired power generation, coal mining, ports and shipping, chemical fertiliser production, financial services, asset management and consulting services.  To find out more about SDIC please visit www.sdic.com.cn.
