Dr Alfred Tacke (Berlin – 22 September 2005)
Dr Tacke holds a doctoral degree in Economics and held the office of state secretary
in the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor from October 1998. Dr. Tacke
was appointed a member of the STEAG Board of Management effective December 1, 2004,
and has been its chairman since January 1, 2005.
The STEAG group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RAG based in Essen, Germany and
is currently the fifth largest German power generator. It operates eight hard coal-fired
power plants in Germany (five in the Rhine-Ruhr region and three in the Saarland),
one hard coal-fired power plant in both Turkey and Colombia, and two industrial
power plants (Leuna and Cologne-Godorf); it builds and operates installations for
decentralized energy supply; transports, processes and distributes hard coal, coke
and byproducts from coal processing, and is active in the field of gas supply, transport
and trading.
In 2005, STEAG had total revenues of about 4.7 billion euros.
