Algy Cluff (Grand Cayman – 28 April, 2003)

At the time of his presentation to Sentient, Algy Cluff was Chairman & CEO of Cluff Mining plc, he later went on to form Cluff Gold Limited. Algy has had quite a diverse career starting in the British Grenadier Guards and the Guards Independent Parachute Company serving in West Africa, Cyprus and Malaysia before retiring in 1965. He has been a city councillor in Manchester and a magazine proprietor. More relevant to our field, Algy founded Cluff Oil in 1971 which then turned into Cluff Resources. Algy was Chairman & CEO of Cluff Mining plc since its inception in 1996 to 2003, after Ashanti Goldfields acquired Cluff Resources that same year. Algy has had over 40 years of experience throughout his career in Africa.
