Sentient invested in Xinli Non Ferrous Metals Co. Ltd (Xinli) in early 2008. It owns 26% of the company. The operating partner is Yunnan Metallurgical Group Company Ltd. (CYMCO) which owns 68%.

Xinli is developing an integrated titanium products production business located in Yunnan Province, China. As of early 2009, it consists of ilmenite exploration and mining projects, an ilmenite concentrator plant project, a high titanium slag production project and a chloride-process titanium dioxide pigment production project. Plans exist to extend the business to the production of titanium sponge and metal.

Based in Kunming, CYMCO is one of the leading non-ferrous metals producers in China, the fourth largest in aluminium, the third largest in lead and zinc and the largest in germanium.
